Giorgos Marinakis
ViolinGiorgos Marinakis was born in Athens in 1971 and originally from the Ano Meria Folegandros Cyclades. He was initiated into the traditional music of his father (traditional music of the island) who was the first teacher of the violin. Also took violin lessons from George Mariola and taught Byzantine music by Lykourgos Angelopoulos.
He has participated in radio-television productions, recordings and many concerts in Greece (Athens Concert Hall, Thessaloniki / Thessaloniki, Herodion etc.) and worldwide (Europe, Asia, USA, Canada, Argentina, Africa, Australia, etc.), working with traditional dancing and important cultural institutions (Dora Stratou, Lyceum of Greek Women, Centre for Asia Minor Studies, Friends of Music Folklore Archive Melpo Merlier etc.), musicologists-researchers (Marco Dragoumi, Lambros Liavas George Papadakis Nick Dionyssopoulos etc.) traditional singers (Domna Samiou, Chronis Aidonidi, Peace Konitopoulou Legaki, Tasia Vera Sophia Kollitiri, Alekos Kitsakis, Helen Legaki Vangelis Konitopoulos etc.) as well as remarkable and important Greek and foreign musicians, composers, conductors and singers, without limitation: (Claus Suka Grigoris Kapsalis, Petrolouka Chalkias Nikos Filippides Christos Zotos, Vassilis Hatzopoulos, Claus KATRAKI Costas Mountakis, Socrates Sinopoulos, Ross Daly, Talip Ozkan, Djamchid Chemirani, Takis Suka, Christos Nikolopoulos, Manolis Karantinis Nikos Xidakis, Chris Tsiamoulis George Andreou, Goran Bregovic, Stavros Xarchakos, Luke Karytinos Costas Ganoseli and George Dalaras, Dulce Pontes, Eddy Napoli, Marinella, Poly Panou, Giota Lydia, Pizza Papadopoulou, Eleni Vitali, Manolis Mitsias, Haris Alexiou, Vicky Moscholiou, Mario Frangoulis, Pantelis Thalassinos, Costas Macedon, Gerasimos Andreatos etc.).
He is a member of the musical TAKIM shape and traditional orchestra ``THRIA`` of Aspropyrgos.
He has taught for many years (1992-1996) in Model Musical High School of Pallini and other music schools. Since 1995 he teaches violin in the traditional music of the Conservatoire ``Philippos Nakas``.
